As I've stated in previous posts, I take rocking out pretty seriously. So much so that a number of fellow librarians have suggested starting a metal band ourselves. But metal is a musical genre of tremendous depth; what sort of metal should librarians play? And what would we call ourselves? This quickly turned into a game of literature/metal mash-up. Listed below for your amusement some of the results of this:
North-head-banger Abbey
The Bluest Black Sabbath Eye (thanks Erin)
The Sword in the Stone (didn't really need any modification)
A Dethklok-work Orange
Stormtroopers of Death of a Salesman
Death and the Iron Maiden (there's like, three in there)
Madame Iron Butterfly
My Sister's Keeper of the Seven Keys
The Man who would be King Diamond
The Chocolate Warbringer
A Windir in the Willows
Queens of the Stone Age of Innocence
Oliver Twisted Sister (thanks Sara!)
The Caucasian Chalk Circle of Dead Children (thanks again Erin!)
There's certainly more out there, so feel free to submit in response. Who knows? Maybe we'll use yours. Though first I'll need to learn to play an instrument.
Oh! And the ironic end which brings us full circle - Danish folk-metal group Wuthering Heights. Here's a sample of their work, performing what one youtube commenter calls the "heaviest eco-friendly song ever."
While you're learning an instrument Dan, I will learn how to "growl" for our sweet vocals.
