Catalog and SFX

After consulting with Lawrence/EST, it sounds as though we can expect resumption of service around 2:45 p.m. today. Apparently, during some work on the UPS units (battery backups that caused the outage the other day), the server (pulsar) that drives the catalog and SFX was inadvertently disconnected and is now being restarted.

EZProxy

Due to some server migration related issues, EZProxy is having a bad week. If you get reports of users seeing messages that look like this:

To allow http://catalog.lib.ksu.edu:3210/sfxlcl3/azlist/default to be used in a starting point URL, your EZproxy administrator must first authorize the hostname of this URL in the ezproxy.cfg file.

Within this database's section of ezproxy.cfg, the following line must be added:

Host some domain name here

The EZproxy server must then be restarted to make the change take effect.

please report these occurrences to Dale, and I will have the domain in question added to the ezproxy configuration file.

Placing Holds and Recalling Materials through the Catalog

Maintenance on the online catalog continues. The "My Library Account" features for holds and recalls on materials will be unavailable during this maintenance period. 

Voyager Bib Reload - Catalog Update

Voyager Catalog (web) is now "static".  No changes can be made to library accounts through the online catalog (OPAC) or the staff catalog module.  The actual Bibliographic Record reload should commence this afternoon.

OPAC Status - intermittent downtime

Endeavor has informed us that we will see intermittent "downtime" of our OPAC which is part of the Backup and Copy process that they are following in order to setup continuous OPAC.  Both KSU-Manhattan and KSU-Salina are affected by this.

My Library Account Activities

The Library will be performing maintenance to the online catalog beginning 7am on August 1. This maintenance will impact the ability to set holds and place recalls from the catalog.  We anticipate that these services will resume on Thursday.

Saturday, July 29 - Computing Maintenance

University computing will perform maintenance on Saturday, July 29, 7pm to midnight.

Web services, such as the online catalog, databases, e-journals, and other library web pages may be unavailable during this time.

Catalog maintenance on April 8th

This is to allow the cutover from the old to new servers, previously attempted and aborted on March 25th and April 2nd due to undocumented application conflicts, to take place. The downtime is currently scheduled to be 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., although the anticipated downtime may be shorter than that window.

The new servers should improve the catalog response times as well as the general performance.

We apologize for any inconvenience this outage may cause. During the outage you may want to consider using WorldCat as an alternative, as it indicates with fairly high reliability whether we have a title. Note, however, that the library is closed on Saturday evening, so there is no access to our print collections during this outage.

The new servers should improve the catalog response times as well as the general performance.
