Access to CSA PsycARTICLES has been restored.

CSA is currently denying K-Staters access to any full-text journals contained within PsycARTICLES. We are working to get access restored.

Wiley Interscience Site Maintenance

On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, Wiley Interscience will be unavailable for approximately one hour beginning at 5:00am CDT.

K-State Libraries EZproxy maintenance: Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, 5-6pm

Between 5:00 and 6:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 5, EZproxy will be migrated to a different server environment. While we don't anticipate a lengthy outage, it's possible that users will be unable to access databases, electronic journals, or any other proxied resources during this time.

In the event of extended downtime, you can assist some users who are having trouble accessing electronic resources. If users are on campus, assist them by copying the link of the thing they're trying to get (right click the link, then copy it) and pasting it into a new browser tab or window. Delete the proxy prefix in the URL - that's the beginning of the URL up to the second "http" - and the resource should work fine. Off-campus users will need to wait until EZproxy is restored to service.

Alexander Street Press maintenance

Possible disruption of Cambridge Journals online service

Cambridge Journals Online may experience intermittent interruptions in service on Sunday, December 21st, and Monday, December 22nd, from 2 pm until 3 pm CST each day, as maintenance must be performed on the server.

Knovel downtime today

Knovel is switching to their new tables platform this evening.  As a result, we may experience an hour or so of downtime starting at 5pm.

American Chemical Society journals via Get It - PATCHED

Original message 11:07am:
ACS has downgraded its support of OpenURL linking (i.e.: linking through Get It), and did a poor job of announcing this change. Currently no one who uses a link resolver to access ACS journals at the pubs.acs.org site is successfully linking to content - this is not only a K-State problem.
A few quick and dirty patches are being discussed on the SFX listserv; I'll update you when I've got one in place that works.

Boo and hiss at information providers who retreat from supporting information standards.

Update 4:45pm:
I've implemented the quick and dirty patch suggested on the SFX listserv. It seems to work fine when you have at least a journal title and year; when coming from a database or using Citation linker, for instance. You may still hit an error message when linking via journal title only, as when coming from the E-Journals list. The message looks something like:

ERROR: Issue for [journal code] year null not found.

where [journal code] is something cryptic like "jacsat." This error isn't fatal, although it's ugly and annoying. Simply look above the message to the menu item "Browse the journal," pull down the menu and choose "List of issues" or whatever suits your fancy. Please be aware that this inconvenience is temporary. I hope to have a real, error-free fix soon.

Update 11/18/08 11:00am:
This morning Ex Libris released an official patch for the problem. I've applied the patch in our test version of Get It and it seems to work fine. When you don't have a date (as when linking from the E-Journals list), you're taken to a list of the journal's available issues. You'll see this patch in production tomorrow. Please let me know if you have problems in the meantime.

RESOLVED - ksulib.org down

In response to a minor technical support request, A Small Orange's otherwise excellent technical support fixed the problem using a large hammer. This means that all of our ksulib.org content is unavailable while a DNS change propagates. This may take hours.

Needless to say, I've expressed my annoyance to them about this, but there's not much that can be done about it at this point. We'll be moving the services currently on ksulib.org to local servers very soon, which should make them even more reliable.

UPDATE: The DNS change has propagated and all is well.

Planned ILLiad outage

OCLC notified us that our ILLiad pages will be unavailable for about 20 minutes this evening sometime between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm while they do some maintenance.  Just wanted to let you know in case patrons contact you so you can let them know they system should only be down for a short time.
