After the first MARCit record import, a few notes:
- Use the export profile workaround until after the December update. Manual export doesn't work since the November update.
- Test may be deleting the Local profile overnight; it's disappeared once even after being saved.
- Before creating a new profile for this workaround, create a dummy Institute - call it "test" and give it no additional data. When creating the profile, the Institute of choice is DEFAULT.
- Records imported in MARC Exchange format contain disallowed characters in the 856. 856 also has no indicators. I posted to the CRM today.
- Until the issues are fixed, records can be scrubbed pretty easily in MarcEdit, a free download.
- Use GZip to decompress .gz files correctly. Run from the DOS window if it's not available on the relevant server: Put the compressed file into C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin. Decompress with GZIP -d <filename> - the compressed file will be replaced. I'm all ears if anyone knows an easier way to use GZip.
Michelle T. and crew are configuring Voyager to display 866 holdings data from the bib (for these records). They're modifying the display1.cfg and display2.cfg files and loading them first to the Test OPAC - more as this succeeds or fails.
