Chapman Project

Chapman_quilt_12                                                                                                           Sherry Osland, a former Chapman, KS resident headed up the Chapman Quilt Project and distrubted the quilts.  The project was to find people suffering of the demolition of their homes from the June 11 tornado that destory the majority of the town and deliver to them a comfortable quilt.

It is the hope of the Scholarly Stitchers that our quilt will bring some comfort to the person(s) who receives it.

Quilt is Quilted and Great Compliment

It is great to say, "the quilt is quilted!" and it will be ready for the Friends of the Libraries Gala on September 14.

Since it has been awhile since I last posted a blog on this site, I had to read a few comments and LOL, there is a compliment from Kaye Wood!  Kaye stated, "Terrific!  The colors are great-my favorites.  Can't wait to see it finished."

Our Wonderful Quilt Top

Friends_quilt_3_2  After months of hard work, the Scholarly Stitchers have finished the Quilt Top! YEAH!!!

The next step is to sandwich the top with the batting and backing and get it to the quilter.

Our goal is to have the quilt completely finished by September 14, the date of the Friends of the K-State Libraries Gala.

Raffle tickets are available for purchase--$1 per chance or 6 chances for $5.

The quilt will be raffled at the May 2008 Friends Annual Meeting.

Arranging and Rearranging

Today, the Scholarly Stitchers came together to arrange and rearrange the finished blocks.  After moving a block here and a block there and everywhere a block, block, the Stitchers had the blocks arranged.

After the arrangement of the blocks, came the time to name the quilt.  What shall we name it?

I am confident that a name will be chosen in the near future.

Onward.  Some members of the group will meet on Saturday, July 28 at the home of Patty Paper Piecer to sew the blocks together.  If everything goes according to plan, the quilt top will be finished this weekend.

Yeah!

Quilt in the Making

Here it is July and the Scholarly Stitchers are about ready to scratch off another item on their quilting plan list.  All blocks are scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, July 24 then the fun begins.  On Wednesday, July 25, those who can will join together in the Hemisphere Room during the noon hour to arrange the quilt blocks in sewing order.

A sewing party is scheduled for Saturday, July 28 at Patty Paper Piecer's house.  If all goes well, the quilt top will be finished or at least very close to being finished that day.
