Summary of LINC accomplishments for FY 2008: 

* First and foremost, the formation and interaction of a terrific team:  Tara Baillargeon, Anthony Cobb, Jean Darbyshire, Dan Ireton, Rhondalyn Peairs, Gabriela Diaz de Sabates, and Daryl Youngman
* Establishment of our name:  Libraries’ Inclusiveness Committee (LINC)
* Establishment of K-State Libraries’ diversity goals:
    1. To Ensure We are Inclusive
    2. To Foster Understanding and Value Diverse Perspectives

  1. Diversity      Point Person (DPP) meeting 1/21: Review of Strategic Plan for Diversity to craft 2008 – 2012 plan. (e-mail attachment)  
    1. Dr.       Gordon desires input from all colleges’ diversity committees, leadership,       and all staff willing to comment on the plan document.
    2. Review the current SP as the basis to       determine:

 i. What is missing?

 ii. What is obsolete?

 iii. What can we better craft?

Post-MLS Residency Program Review Report

The Post-MLS Residency Program Review report has been submitted.  The members of the Residency Program Advisory Team which is made up of the past and current residents, and supervisors and those who directed a project in which residents participated, were very helpful in developing the recommendations for enhancement to the program.  They are Regina Beard, Nelda Elder, Tara Coleman, Ayse Gider, Alice Trussell, Char Simser, Mary Bailey, Brenton Stewart, Kristin Whitehair, Sara Kearns, Marcia Stockham, Rhondalyn Peairs, Yongli Zhou, Mike Haddock and Dale Askey.  If you are interested in the report just let me know.

Post-MLS Residency Program Review

The next step of the review, assessment, and enhancement of the Post-MLS Residency Program that we are doing is to gather information from the residents and from those who directed a project that the resident participated in.  There are 14 people in that category and interviews will begin later this week.  J

New Name for Diversity Group

The K-State Libraries diversity group has had a name change.  It was brought to our attention that the acronym LIT was already in use by the libraries.  After discussion, it was agreed that we would change our name to Libraries INclusiveness Committee or LINC.

Electronic Organization Communication Project Recommendations for Practice

I received word that K-State Libraries will be folding the project and information from the Electronic Organization Communication Project Recommendations for Practice and the information gathered at the All Staff meeting regarding your needs for the new e-mail system into the Email Needs Assessment Committee for the University.  I wanted to thank all of you who participated for your time and hard work in proposing the recommendations.

Recommendations for Practice

Developed through the collaborative efforts of: Adam Wathen, Danielle Theiss-White, Debbie Madsen, Lisa Loberg, Renee Gates, Nelda Elder, Donna Ekart, Marjorie Devlin, Kevin Champion, Laura Bonella, Regina Beard, and Dale Askey. Focus groups were facilitated by Jean Darbyshire.

Recommendations for practice in this area of internal electronic organization communications are being offered to bring about more efficient communications patterns within the organization. These recommendations do not attempt to address content at all.

Responsibility-The groups agreed that in almost all cases it is the information seeker’s responsibility
