Caffeine fix

Finals are next week, next week!  This semester has gone by so fast.  While I think Fiedler Library is great it isn't the only library on campus.  I'm sure you've noticed that behemoth just a few hundred steps away, Hale Library.  While you're busy studying next week don't forget to take a break.  Hale Library will be providing the perfect break opportunity next Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights.  At 10 pm, in the second floor entrance, you will find FREE coffee, tea, and snacks (beef sticks, yummy!) plus a lot of bleary-eyed students anxiously waiting their turn for the goodies.  If you have a mug or cup feel free to bring it with you though cups will be available for those who don't.

Daylight saving time

Don’t forget to change your clocks next Sunday (the 11th).  This is the “Spring forward” part of “Spring forward, Fall back” so turn your clocks forward one hour.

This year the beginning of daylight saving time is moving to a new time, err, date.  It will now start on the second Sunday in March which is this coming Sunday, March 11.  Previously it started on the first Sunday in April.  In the fall it will also end later.

Why this change?  According to this government website the country saves energy used in people’s homes which account for a significant percentage of the country’s overall energy usage. 

You have probably heard that this is causing problems with computers’ clocks.  Check out InfoTech Tuesday to see what K-State is doing about these problems and what you can do to help your own computer. 

In spite of the computer problems, I like this change.  There will actually be daylight left when I get home from work to enjoy the outdoors.
