I. Discussion Items
A) Caffeine Fix
- Tara Coleman stopped by to discuss Caffeine Fix with our group.
- She wants to work with us during the transition period because she knows about violations, what does and doesn't work, etc.
- At this point, we're not sure if we have enough people to put in the time to put on Caffeine Fix, so Jason will send out a poll to see who is available and whether we should just help out with it rather than put it on.
- The actual event is Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of finals week from 10pm-12am.
- If we were to help, we would need to prepare at least an hour in advance, and set-up can be labor intensive.
- This is budgeted in, so we don't need to worry about selling our t-shirts in order to do this.
B) T-Shirts
- Have been ordered!
- Library Ambassador shirts will be purple with white writing on them.
- We may get them in as early as a week.
- Jason is in the process of filling out forms for sales tax.
- We have several areas we can sell the shirts at:
- Caffeine Fix
- Library Help On-The-Go (in the Union on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10-2, If you can, stop by and spend some time there!)
- Outreach in Derby (Limited time deal, but we can have our applications and handouts displayed as well)
- It would be great if some of us can be there at least for part of the time to answer questions about our organization. It is from 4:30-6, one to two days a week, for more information contact Jason.
- Outreach in Jardine (Starting in March for 8 weeks).
C) Open House (April 18th, 9-4)
- Dan Ireton is the coordinator
- He would like to know if we could be on-call to give tours to people who are interested.
- Also during Open House, there will be Student Life Exhibits in the Union.
- We could have a table, someone would need to be there at all times.
- Jason will be sending out a poll to see who will be available for Open House.
D) Emailing Freshmen
- We can pay money to have an email go out to all freshmen.
- Emails can be overlooked.
- Posters might be a better option.
E) Design materials
- Some of the text is finished, if you haven't gotten to it yet, please do so soon.
F) Advertising Meetings
- We can poster in Eisenhower and in the basement of the Union, for other locations we would need to get approval.
- Tara Coleman had the idea that we could have a table top display advertising about Library Ambassadors. (Robyn might be able to design this).
- We will try to chalk a few days before our next meeting (maybe look into getting a stencil, coming up with catchy phrases)
G) Bingo
- Jason talked with OSAS and they didn't like the idea of Bingo because it could be considered lottery.
- Other ideas:
- Ice cream social
- Use as an opportunity to encourage people to visit the Libraries.
- Have this as an event not a fundraiser, but we can sell our t-shirts at this event.
- Ice cream social
H) Ideas for recruitment
- Materials at Open House, satellite stations (and if we could be at those stations, that would be great!)
- See Advertising Meetings section above
- Give out pop with stickers on them stating tips about the library or a top ten list.
I) Getting Involved
- There is a Student Senate opportunity to get involved with a Library Committee. If you are interested let Jason know.
II. Next Meeting
A) Jason will put up a poll to see when we can meet in March.
B) Please try to BRING A FRIEND to our VERY AWESOME MEETINGS!
